Pakistan star Danish Kaneria has been selected to appear at a specialist two-week training camp for spin bowlers and wicketkeepers in Lahore later this month.
The camp at the National Cricket Association was organised by the national selection committee in consultation with the Director Game Development and former Pakistan opener Mudassar Nazar.
Pakistan’s two leading keepers Kamran Akmal and Sarfraz Ahmed will not be involved because of their presence in the Zimbabwe one-day series.
Leg-spinner Kaneria is able to participate because he is currently out of favour with the selectors as far as one-day internationals go. His next top-level cricket will be against world champions Australia in March if the series goes ahead subject to security assurances.
Wicket Keepers:
Muhammad Salman, Zulfiqar Jan, Zulqarnain Haider, Hanif Malik, Gulraiz Sadaf, Ameen-ur-Rehman, Ahmad Zeeshan.
Spinners:
Danish Kaneria, Abdul Rehman, Yasir Shah, Tahir Khan, Saeed Ajmal, Azam Hussain, Dilawar Khan, Irfan-uddin, Muhammad Aslam, Zohaib Khan, Junaid Naeem, Nayyar Abbas, Aimal Khan.
